Organizations and members

Invite people to your organization, choose their member level and set organization-wide rules for members.

An organization is your company's workspace in My Journey Analytics. It owns your projects, and everyone who works in them is a member of the organization.

Organization settings are under Settings → Organization. Most of them can be changed only by organization admins and owners.

Member levels

Every member has one of three levels in the organization:

LevelWhat they can do
MemberUse the projects they have access to.
AdminEverything a member can do, plus manage members, invitations, roles and most organization settings. Admins always have full access to every project.
OwnerEverything an admin can do, plus delete the organization. An organization can have more than one owner.

What a member can see and change inside each project is set separately, with access control.

Adding new members

People join your organization by invitation. If your organization has a verified email domain, people on it can also join automatically when they sign in with single sign-on, or be added by your identity provider; see Authentication domains and single sign-on and SCIM provisioning.

  1. Open Settings → Organization → Members.
  2. Under Pending invites, select Invite team member.
  3. Enter each person's email address and, optionally, their name. Admins and owners can also choose the person's Organization level, up to their own level.
  4. Optionally, add a message. If your plan includes Access control, you can also give the person access to specific projects.
  5. Select Invite team members.

Each person receives an email with a link to join. An invite is tied to the email address it was sent to, and it expires after 3 days. Until it is accepted, it is listed under Pending invites, where you can copy the invite link or cancel the invite.

By default, members can invite others too. Admins can turn this off under Invite settings (see below).

Changing a member's level

  1. Open Settings → Organization → Members.
  2. Under Organization members, open the menu (⋯) next to the person.
  3. Choose Upgrade to or Downgrade to a level, or Make owner.

The same menu has Manage project access, which sets the member's access to individual projects.

A few rules apply:

  • You can't change your own level.
  • Admins can change only members at or below their own level, and only to a level no higher than their own.
  • Owners can change anyone else's level.

Removing a member or leaving

To remove someone, open the menu (⋯) next to them under Organization members and choose Remove from organization. To leave an organization yourself, choose Leave organization next to your own name.

Admins can remove members at or below their own level. An owner can't be removed and can't leave. To step down, make someone else an owner and ask them to change your level.

Member policies

These settings appear on the Members page for admins and owners.

Two-factor authentication

Turn on Enforce 2FA to require every member to use two-factor authentication. Members who haven't set it up are asked to do so the next time they use the app. Each member sets up their own under Settings → Account → Profile → Two-factor authentication, with an authenticator app or a passkey.

Available on plans that include Enforce 2FA.

Invite settings

  • Members can invite others to join the organization. Turn it off to allow only admins and owners to invite.
  • Members can create new projects. It is off by default; admins and owners can always create projects.

Available on plans that include Invite settings.

Member notifications

Under Member notifications, admins choose which email notifications members receive. Members can't change back what you set here.

Available on plans that include Member governance.

Security

Under Settings → Organization → Security, admins and owners can:

  • turn off Enable publicly shared resources, which immediately stops every sharing link and public dashboard in the organization from working
  • turn off Members can see the full member list, so that members see only themselves in the member list
  • review Personal API key access: which members' personal API keys can reach the organization, and with which scopes

All three are available on plans that include Security settings.

Name, logo and ID

Under Settings → Organization → General:

  • Name & logo changes how the organization is shown across the app. Select the avatar to upload a logo.
  • Organization ID shows the identifier used with the API.
  • Member notice shows a message, with an optional link, at the top of every page for all members. Use it for a data policy or a compliance notice.

More than one organization

You can belong to several organizations and switch between them from the organization switcher in the navigation. To start a new one, choose New organization there. A new organization is activated by us before you can use it.

Deleting an organization

Owners can delete an organization under Settings → Organization → Danger zone. This permanently deletes the organization, all its projects and all their data, and can't be undone.
