Slack

Connect Slack to My Journey Analytics to get reports, alerts and event notifications in your channels.

Connecting your Slack workspace lets My Journey Analytics post to your channels:

  • Report subscriptions: a dashboard or insight sent to a channel on a schedule
  • Alerts: a message when an insight crosses a threshold
  • Destinations: a message for each matching event, such as every new sign-up

Connect Slack

  1. Open Settings → Project → Integrations.
  2. Under Slack integration, select the Add to Slack button.
  3. In Slack, choose your workspace and approve the requested permissions.

You return to the app with the workspace connected. Connect it once per project; everyone in the project can then pick its channels.

If the app says this instance is not configured for Slack, contact support.

Add the app to your channels

The My Journey Analytics Slack app can only post in channels it is a member of. Before choosing a channel, add the app to it in Slack, for example from the channel's details, under Integrations, then Add apps.

Private channels are only listed once the app has been added to them. If you know the channel's ID (it starts with C), you can paste it into the channel picker to find the channel.

If you choose a channel the app is not in, the app warns you; add the app in Slack, then select Check again.

Send scheduled reports

  1. Open a dashboard and select Subscribe, or open the subscriptions of an insight.
  2. Create a new subscription and choose Slack as the Destination.
  3. Pick the workspace and the channel to send reports to.
  4. Choose how often to send it, and save.

Your plan sets how many report subscriptions each project can have.

Post alerts to Slack

  1. Open the insight and set up an alert.
  2. Under Notify, choose Slack and pick the channel.

Post a message for events

  1. Open Destinations from the navigation and choose New destination.
  2. Pick Slack.
  3. Choose the Slack workspace and channel.
  4. Choose which events should send a message, and edit the message text if you like.
  5. Save and enable the destination.

The message can include details from the event, such as {person.properties.email} or {event.properties.$current_url}. See webhooks for the values you can use.

Disconnect Slack

To remove the workspace, open Settings → Project → Integrations and select Disconnect next to it under Slack integration. Reports, alerts and destinations that post to it stop sending messages.
